Despite the importance of heroes, the true test of a great anime is whether or not it has a really memorable antagonist. One of the most fascinating and alluring aspects of any tale is the reveal of a trustworthy character’s genuine objectives or a terrible ruler’s total absence of duplicity.

In order to make a protagonist become a hero, a story needs a villain. A compelling hero requires a worthy foe. The cold truth of the problem is that! Stories, dramas, and games need really evil antagonists to motivate their protagonists to fight for justice. The most powerful anime characters generally face off against one another, while the brightest ones often fight to outwit one another.

When we were younger, we were introduced to some of the anime genre’s most sinister and terrifying antagonists. Our crew spent considerable time debating and discussing the most memorable events from our favorite anime to come up with this list of the top 20 villains.

1. Miranjo (Ranking of Kings)

When initially seen, Miranjo was only a ghostly reflection in the mirror. King Daida, King Bosse’s youngest son, was presented with the mirror. Daida eventually learned to rely on her own reflection for advice. She was his compass and his source of knowledge. The program now has a major foe in her. King Bosse and her seem to be related in some way.

He proves this by breaking his promise to Miranjo and refusing to aid Queen Hilling. The anime continued, and clues about her history became clearer. In Episode 11, we got a peek at Miranjo’s childhood for the first time. In episode 18, more of her backstory was revealed.

Daida witnesses many individuals laughing at and mocking the child Miranjo in episode 11. He sees through her guilelessness at once and comes to her aid.

But he is taken aback by the sight of her face. People then start laughing and accuse them of disfiguring her. Daida then begs Miranjo to remain with her forever so he can keep an eye on her. Bosse tells Bebin a similar tale in episode 18.

Miranjo was a kind, benevolent girl. Like her mother, she was generous and nice to everyone in the area. After Bosse brutally kills her dad, she nurses him back to health. Bosse decides to stay and see her development as a consequence of his choice.

The Houmas Kingdom, home to formidable sorcerers, was where they both originated. The villagers sided with the neighboring Gyakuza during the fight with the gods.

After the Gyakuza’s betrayal, Miranjo had changed. She knew that being kind would not always be advantageous to her. According to the second introduction of the anime, Miranjo befriends a young demon.

The Demon could have stumbled across the helpless Miranjo and assisted her. In an alternative opening sequence, an adult Miranjo is seen standing next to the Demon. This might be a sign that Miranjo was the one who persuaded Bosse to talk to the Demon.

Miranjo is in the mirror for the Demon, who serves another function. By encasing Miranjo in the mirror, the Demon had the chance to save her before she died on the battlefield.

2. Fyodor Dostoevsky (Bungo Stray Dogs)

This antagonist, sometimes known as “Fyodor The Demon,” played a crucial part in BSD season 3. He did officially make an appearance in season 2.

Fyodor, a clever adversary, is shown wearing an ushanka cap and a long, fur-lined coat. He claims to have a fragile constitution and has little brute strength or obvious fighting ability. He is considered an irresistible monster in the underworld as a result.

His superpower is deadly, which is the one thing we do know. We saw him use it to kill a young person who was a part of the Port Mafia. He seemed to be able to instantly kill the youngster by touching his face.

In addition to his ability for mystery murdering, Fyodor also seems to be proficient at creating bombs and hacking into computer control systems. Fyodor’s cleverness, though, could be his deadliest quality.

He has a high IQ and a keen sense of strategy, making him quite adept at reading people. He is very dangerous because of his wide variety of weaponry.

Even if I didn’t understand Fyodor’s skill, I was aware of the overall tenor of his role in Dead Apple. He basically just wanted to have fun while working with Shibusawa and Dazai. Shibusawa’s plan did have the advantage of killing out some Gifted people.

After Shibusawa betrayed Dazai, Fyodor helped bring Shibusawa’s true power back to life. If this power had continued and the earth had been engulfed in crimson fog, the bulk of mankind would have died. Thankfully, Atsushi and his comrades defeated Shibusawa.

If the plan didn’t succeed, Fyodor didn’t appear to care all that much. After all, he only found it amusing briefly. He could go on to his genuine hunt for the book that has the ability to alter reality after getting that aspect out of the way.

3. Tsukasa Shishiou (Dr. Stone)

Tsukasa was actively attempting to realize his unambiguous plan for the stone world. He desired a planet free of any grownups from past generations who may have brought the outdated practices back.

He desired a new beginning, and the opportunity to change things in the manner he believed was appropriate. Tsukasa was an idealist, but in order to turn the ideal into a reality, he was compelled to make choices on who to save and who to kill.

Tsukasa was maliciously acting against the older generation. Given that he knew those trapped in stone may be restored, he murdered them by destroying their stone statues. He consciously made the decision to purge the planet of the grownups of the old world, whom he saw as garbage. He often chose a bad course of action because of his idealistic nature.

It was challenging to understand his primary goals while following his character throughout the series. His objectives and the reasons he was so adamant about his beliefs were concealed. He only informed Senku of his plans to rule the stone planet on his own and construct a personal paradise.

Tsukasa is a perceptive person who can understand the issue at hand and make defensible choices that would direct his objectives. With the knowledge at hand, he knew what was going on, but he didn’t have all the facts.

Despite being clever, Tsukasa relied only on his own unique skills and never considered the possibility that he could have alternative possibilities. Alternatively, he could not have wanted to.

Senku gained more knowledge regarding the mysteries behind certification, while Tsukasa made great efforts to construct the world in his vision.

Senku escaped Tsukasa’s fatal blow because he was open to learning about petrification and how it may be useful in its healing effects. Senku’s ploy, though also a risk, succeeded in keeping Tsukasa in the dark enough time for Senku to gather supporters and further his scientific research.

4. Rachel (Tower of God)

The plot of “Tower of God” centers on Rachel, a young woman who is the film’s antagonist, and her yearning to see the stars. She just wanted to be with the young man she nicknamed “Bam,” her pet, for some reason. The main character in the narrative is Bam, especially “The 25th” Bam.

He was an orphan trying to escape from a cave. All looked hopeless until the light finally broke through. Then Rachel, the person who would fundamentally alter his life, showed up there. She would look for this Bam as she made her way to the mythical “Tower of God.”

She was eager to see the stars, so Rachel searched the tower for them. After leaving Bam behind, she saw that her destiny had not played out as she had intended. Bam was allowed to participate in the experiment because of how “Special” he is, allowing him to climb the tower, make friends, and even employ “shinsu”.

Bam’s first mission was to slay a big monster with a “Black March-” weapon Princess Yuri Jahad had given him. The notion of the young women of Jahad reflected the many Jahadi clans, which were said to have existed before the real pinnacle of the tower. Princesses Anaak Jahad and Endorsi are among the others.

Bam is completely engrossed by nothing in every picture, which perfectly encapsulates what the narrative is about, according to the narrator: “Bam- the boy who wished to be with her above all else.”

Finally, Rachel encounters Bam’s bird in a field. People refer to Rachel as “the girl who aspired to see the stars.” Astronomy and fields are connected. Using “visual storytelling” to condense a narrative’s beginning and finish is brilliant.

5. Garou (One Punch Man)

Juvenile Garou has the sharp angles of a young wolf, bright yellow eyes, and two massive spikes of coarse silver hair. He is shown as having a lot of muscle despite the fact that he is not a very big guy. He wears a black, long-sleeved shirt and white, baggy slacks, much like his former master Bang.

In his first appearance, Garou is shown as a villainous, self-assured, and vengeful antagonist who despises heroes. If someone were to disrespect him, he would physically attack them.

Because of his ego, he poses a danger to more senior members of the team, like Sitch and Heroes. Additionally, he will assault any Hero Association employees or subordinate heroes he encounters.

Despite his morality, Garou is frequently misunderstood and seen harshly because of his monster status. He fights heroic figures, either directly or by encouraging others to do so, but he never kills them.

His conversation with Busaiku at the park and his decision to abandon Metal Bat while Zenko is present show that he has a soft spot for children. Garou scolds the child for calling Busaiku “Mister,” which the boy promptly stops doing.

Saitama aspired to emulate a young hero who battled bad guys, while Garou yearned to eat heroes for breakfast. When compared to Garou, a superb martial artist and warrior, Saitama is simply an average guy who isn’t very good at fighting.

6. Crocodile (One Piece)

The enemy of the Baroque Works Saga was Crocodile, head of the shadowy criminal organization Baroque Works. Within the group, he is known as “Mr. 0.” He has been a major antagonist throughout the series’ whole, and he is the first to beat Luffy completely.

He was presented as a Shichibukai, but he lost that status following an unsuccessful coup in the desert kingdom of Arabasta.

The two forged an uneasy partnership during their departure from Impel Down and the second half of the confrontation of Marineford, despite his introduction as a significant opponent of Luffy’s.

His gray skin is reddened, and his hair is a mix of purple and black that is brushed back but hangs freely at the nape of his neck and, more lately, across the front of his face.

A black vested, green velour scarf, dark grey pants, and a black coat alongside grey fur trim are his new threads once he teams up with Luffy and Jinbei in order to protect Ace from harm.

7. Walter C. Dornez (Hellsing)

In the current day, Walter serves mostly as Integra’s butler and also makes weapons for the Hellsing vampires Alucard and Seras Victoria. He was still one of the company’s most proficient operators, especially with high-velocity wires.

He seemed proud to embrace the fact that his pre-vampire days were behind him and that he was becoming old and less capable of battling than he once was.

After Alucard expresses his horror at the thought of aging, Walter says, “If we are unable to combine our pride with prosperity, then we ought to turn away from such prosperity,” further establishing that Walter takes pride in having been human and would not accept the well-being of vampiric immortality.

However, his ambition to become “a shinigami in body, mind, and soul” shows that his fear of being worthless has ultimately won out.

He goes out to kill Alucard so that he can prove to himself that he is strong. He, like the Major and the Doc’s men, has had plastic surgery to make them seem younger and is now a secret weapon for Millennium.

While Walter admits he was brainwashed into battling Hellsing, he maintains that his decision to oppose Alucard is entirely voluntary.

Walter, in the ninth volume of Hellsing, climbs off of one of Alucard’s stakes and treads on Alexander Anderson’s remains, reminding Alucard that people are trash after they die and that trash isn’t worth getting emotional about. Then, he goes about telling people he was reincarnated after being indoctrinated.

Upon Seras’s intervention, Walter inquires as to whether or not she would prefer to hear that he is fighting Alucard because of his beliefs rather than out of necessity. Out of anger at his treatment of Father Anderson’s ashes, Yumie assaults him, but he is easily defeated.

After hearing Walter defend his decision, Alucard rejects it, saying he finds Walter’s natural, older form more appealing than his restored youth.

8. Ryô Asuka (Devilman Crybaby)

The angelic-looking guy who abruptly bursts into the scene is the center of attention after Ryo’s debut, which is neither subtle nor casual. When viewers first see Ryo, he is carelessly firing a machine gun towards Wamu’s Gang.

Almost soon after their encounter with Wamu’s Gang, Ryo informs Akira that monsters are making a comeback to Earth and will be fighting humans for dominance.

As a result of his closest friend’s explanation, to which Akira gives little credence, Akira doesn’t have a strong reaction. It is said that Ryo discovered this after witnessing Professor Fikara’s possession and subsequent suicide.

He seemed remarkably unfazed as he shared the news that demons were among them. Akira is not only Ryo’s closest friend but also the only person who ever appears to earn his compassion.

It goes completely over his head that Miki is the target of Wamu’s Gang’s harassment until Akira rushes in to assist her. Ryo and Akira left quickly without checking on Miki to make sure she was all well.

In multiple instances, including when Ryo watches his recording of the nightclub assassination in the hospital, when he sets up a detonation to kill Nagasaki’s unknowing elderly mother, when he exposes Koda to the public, and when he reacts to Akira’s parents experiencing at Jinmen’s hands, it becomes clear that he lacks empathy.

Ryo is alert, sitting up, and seeming to be in very little discomfort when Akira visits him in the hospital following the nightclub incident.

He attributes his survival to his body’s “amazing resilience,” and after seeing Akira transform into a Devilman, the only remaining thing anybody should be thinking about is a throwaway word from Ryo.

Ryo’s appearance in the next episode, after the savage death of all the servants, without any outward signs of injury or struggle other than the clumsy use of a crutch and an upper body brace, seemed forced and unrealistic.

9. Seijūrō Akashi (Kuroko no Basuke)

Akashi was the eldest son of a rich family. As the son of an aristocratic family, Akashi was raised under the severe discipline of a dad who expected nothing less than the best from his son.

His father forced him to practice music, sports, and academics when he was a young lad. However, his mother remained a source of solace for him despite all this stress.

She was a kind lady who gave Akashi his first taste of basketball. She was successful in persuading her husband to give Akashi a break from his studies.

He enjoyed basketball and seemed to have a natural talent for the game. Naturally, he improved in his abilities as well. When Akashi was a little boy, tragedy struck when his mother became ill and died away.

His father tightened up the rules even more following this. He had a miserable childhood and adulthood. Besides missing his mom, he had to comply with his dad’s expanding list of chores and responsibilities.

He had to learn a new one for everyone he mastered. His dad always stressed the importance of academic and military prowess for Akashi men.

Akashi has two different colored eyes—one red and one orange. His many eye colors reflect his several identities. This double personality developed as he struggled to meet the demands of his demanding family and primary school schedules.

Even though he was just as winsome, the red-eyed Akashi of yore treated his comrades with more deference than his modern counterpart.

Heterochromatic-eyed When Akashi’s Emperor Eye power activated, he awoke. This Akashi is quite powerful and aggressive; he even threatened to stab Kagami with a pair of scissors. In his second year, the first team won their second consecutive national title.

The squad was on a roll, winning game after game until their coach became sick. After that, the team’s hunger for victory became its driving force.

10. Bertholdt Hoover (Attack On Titan)

Because of his Eldiran heritage, Bertholdt’s only hope for a better life in Marley was to become a Warrior. Bertholdt was given the Colossal Titan, and Marley instructed young people in the art of Titan Shifting so that they could defend themselves.

To test if his followers had the stomach for massacring the people of Paradis, Marley had sent six of them to a country that was an enemy of his, with orders to eradicate it off the face of the earth.

It’s possible that Bertholdt’s abrupt change contributed significantly to the widespread devastation in Marley’s enemy nation.

Bertholdt was never a leader, preferring instead to follow Reiner’s example and steal his ideas. As a result, Bertholdt fought the Survey Corps without much regard for his own safety, and he ignored calls for assistance from his friends until he was commanded to do so.

He knew Reiner and Annie were behind the plot to kill Marco, but instead of joining them, he preferred to watch from the sidelines. Concerned about Annie, Bertholdt stayed out of Zeke and Reiner’s debate over whether or not they should rescue her before facing the Survey Corps.

The Warriors hoped that the Founding Titan would back them when they conquered Paradis. However, their strategy backfired spectacularly. It was their hope that joining the military would give them a better chance of locating the Founding Titan and bringing him to Marley.

Despite the personal bonds he formed with his fellow 104th Cadet Corps members, Bertholdt and the rest of the Warriors never wavered in their commitment to the objective. Bertholdt spent years convincing his pals that he was on their side, while in reality, he intended to murder them all.

As the Survey Corps started to suspect Reiner and Bertholdt, he came clean and revealed that they were really the Armored and Colossal Titans. Eren and Reiner got into it, and Bertholdt yelled for everyone to leave the area.

He assisted Reiner in kidnapping Eren from the Survey Corps after capturing Ymir, heir to the Jaw Titan. Ymir, who had previously lived in Marley, knew how Reiner and Bertholdt felt when they were abandoned by their friends. Eren escaped the Warriors’ hands when the Survey Corps successfully surrounded the group.

11. Gilgamesh (Fate)

The complexity of Fate Zero is unprecedented. For starters, we are not witnesses to the First Grail War. At first, we miss the point entirely. The confusing mythology surrounding ‘Fate’ is another factor. There have been so many threads leading to it that it’s hard to trace its origins. And because of it, there will always be certain mysteries that can’t be solved.

While there are still many unanswered mysteries, let’s focus on the one at hand: how Gilgamesh resurrected a human being after the Fuyuki Grail War.

Saber reluctantly followed Kiritsugu’s instruction to use his last communication runes to destroy the Grail after he convinced her that it was corrupt and sought solely to wipe out all mankind. The Lesser Grail was destroyed as a result of this.

When Kiritsugu declined to make a request to the Holy Grail, it granted Kirei’s desire to destroy mankind by spilling its contents, which was the black muck. If you break a cup that contains anything, the cup will fracture, but the stuff inside will remain undamaged.

Sixty years’ worth of stored magical vitality was what was found here; it was designed to grant desires. It was also doomed to bring forth nothing but disaster since it was perverted by Angra Mainyu.

12. Meruem (Hunter X Hunter)

At first glance, Meruem seems to be a tyrant who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals. The Queen’s desire to have a flawless child is mirrored in Meruem’s attitude; the Ant looks down on everyone. He has an exquisite taste for something of his kind and a way with words that is both compelling and expressive.

After being born, he immediately begins to see himself as being above all other life and shows no compassion for his dying mother.

Later, Meruem learns to appreciate Komugi, a human lady, although with some reluctance. He comes to care for Komugi and even falls in love with her as they spend more time together. From that point on, Meruem starts to wonder why the ants are so different from humans.

He struggles with his mixed-race heritage and questions the validity of physical strength and aggression as sources of authority. He grew up, became more respectable, and became less violent during his time with Komugi.

As an example, he once went with Isaac Netero to battle him, only to tell the Hunter he didn’t want to engage in battle and only wanted to chat. This is a change from his more violent and vicious side, as seen by the fact that he did not fight back when Netero fought him twice.

Instead, he decided to fight only when Netero admitted he understood Meruem’s identity and that in the event that Meruem beat him, he would give his given name to the chimera ant.

He had formerly looked down on humans as no different than animals, but after meeting Komugi, he came to appreciate them for the tremendous potential they had and the noble character even the weakest among them possessed.

More than that, he became dedicated to altering human society, seeing the disparity between social classes as insanity and vowing to do away with both the system and the idea of inequity.

Meruem’s confidence in power’s good purpose is perhaps his greatest strength. From his time with Komugi, he learned that one should never use power to torture the vanquished but rather to defend the helpless who deserve to live.

13. Vicious (Cowboy Bebop)

Spike and Vicious were both members of the Red Dragon Crime Syndicate prior to the occurrences of the main show. Mao Yenrai, leader of the Red Dragon, pampered them both like sons in their positions because of this. When Spike and Vicious met a third person, a woman named Julia, their once-solid friendship began to crumble.

Spike was seriously injured and departed for dead on the final day of a large gang war. Julia, who was having an affair with Vicious at the time, tracked him down. Spike became well thanks to Julia’s care, and the two fell in love.

They secretly began dating and plotted to head out to the Red Dragon together to start again, all under Vicious’ nose. Unfortunately for both parties, Vicious learned about the connection and allowed it to shape his behavior going forward.

Vicious, in his role as renegade comrade, made good on his threat to murder Julia if she didn’t kill Spike exactly as he’d instructed. He told her he’d pay her back if she killed Spike during their meeting.

If she completed her mission successfully, he would spare her life. Spike would kill her, but she failed to kill him. After considering her options, Julia decided not to carry out Vicious’ threat and instead went into hiding.

Vicious continued with his ambition to take over the Red Dragon Crime Syndicate even after his attempt to assassinate Spike was foiled by Julia’s defiance of his commands. He started by eliminating Mao Yenrai, then moved on to the rest of the Syndicate’s old guard.

Without them, Vicious had the opportunity to undermine the newly created alliances among criminal organizations, putting the security of the Solar System at risk. He started out by selling Eye, an illicit performance-enhancing substance, to finance his Red Dragon rehabilitation.

To recap, there are two key reasons why Vicious is a primary enemy in Cowboy Bebop. For one thing, Vicious and the main character of the series have some past that hasn’t been fully addressed.

Second, Vicious’s takeover of one of the most powerful criminal communities in the universe poses a direct danger to the lives of every person in the surroundings.

14. Father (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

In “Fullmetal Alchemist,” the antagonist is, of course, a Homunculus. He is called “Father” because he made seven additional Homunculi and gave them the names of the seven deadly sins. In the first part of the series, Father is hidden away as the Alchemist brothers cope with their father’s offspring.

The Father asserts that his goals in life are knowledge and perfection. But such things are only a means of reaching an end; what he wants most of all is freedom.

The circ*mstances of his birth inspired such hope. To begin with, he was a fragment of the truth, a metaphysical aggregation of all information.

He became an independent person when an alchemist in Xerxes’s country exchanged part of his slave’s blood for a fragment of the truth. Even though the Homunculus’s consciousness had developed to this point, he was still trapped in his flask.

He became friendly with the slave since he was indebted to him for the “donated” blood, and they were both confined. The dwarf educated the slave and bestowed on him his given name, Van Hohenheim.

Hohenheim gained his freedom with the help of such instruments. It would certainly be far scarier if the Homunculus were to break free. The King of Xerxes sought the dwarf’s advice on how to achieve immortality.

The only solution is to transform the populace of Xerxes into a Philosopher’s Stone by transforming the city into a huge mutation circle.

The Homunculus helps, but he manipulates the situation so that he and his “blood brother” end up with all the spoils of the holocaust. By doing so, he is freed from his flask and given a new human body, one that is an exact replica of Hohenheim’s before his shock.

15. Orochimaru (Naruto)

Orochimaru’s obsession with immortality drove him to develop the Living Corpse Reincarnation technique, which essentially granted him that status.

He was able to keep his mind intact and use it to possess the bodies of others by assuming control of their consciousness. This was not a pleasant procedure, and the bodies seldom lasted Orochimaru more than a few years due to a lack of sufficient chakra.

It’s impossible to know how many times he’s thrown it at his unfortunate captives. Orochimaru became less bashful about his experiments when Minato succeeded Hiruzen as Hokage. As a result, with the help of Danzo, he kidnapped sixty youngsters to experiment on using Hashirama’s DNA.

He didn’t realize that only a single one of the test subjects had survived, so he wrote off the studies as a failure. His callous disregard for children exemplifies the way he saw everyone as expendable tools in the pursuit of his goals. Many of Orochimaru’s heinous deeds involve children; this should render him irredeemable, yet Boruto has chosen a different path with him.

One of the first events that viewers see is Sasuke knowingly sacrificing three perfectly capable genin who was only brought to the Chunin Exams to be used as guinea pigs for testing Sasuke’s mettle.

Of course, they assume they’re there to attempt to murder the kid, and they have no idea how little they really are. By the time they die, all three children have been killed, two of them at the hands of Orochimaru.

Orochimaru’s base of operations included the Land of the Sea. Here, he wanted to train a ninja capable of fighting under the water; one of his subordinates, Amachi, actually accomplished this goal by adopting the Kaima form.

The user’s skin tone was altered, making them seem a lot more fishy than humans. Despite this, Orochimaru eventually became disinterested in the work and gave up on it. It’s incredible how easily he can abandon initiatives, no matter how much harm they do.

16. Ulquiorra Schiffer (Bleach)

Ulquiorra is rated number four by Espada. He is a dedicated member of Aizen’s staff and a primary opponent in the show. Ulquiorra’s main function in the show was as a bodyguard for one of the female leads, Orihime Inoue.

Ulquiorra is a character who does not mince words. Anything that defies his reasoning or something he can’t see with his own eyes, such as emotions or sentiments, raises doubts in his mind.

As for human emotions, he mocks them constantly, thinking people can do without them. Even if we don’t like Orihime, it’s obvious that she was a major factor in his transformation. He was the one to inform Orihime that Ichigo and the others had launched an assault on Hueco Mundo.

He was very direct and to the point in his delivery. She answered his icy question, “For Aizen Sama and for his will.” On the other hand, Ulquiorra reflected, “She’s a girl of strong spirit,” as he departed.

Ulquiorra probably cares for Orihime now, but only out of idle curiosity. My guess is that it’s because he’s used to thinking of people as fragile and was prepared for her to eventually give up. But when she didn’t, he wondered what gave her such a steely resolve. As time goes on, Ulquiorra finally gets to meet Ichigo.

Ignorant that Ulquiorra was the one who seized and controlled Orihime, Ichigo initially refused to confront him, saying, “I did not injure either of his friends.” This subsequent occurrence was equally fascinating.

After defeating Ichigo, Ulquiorra went back to Orihime’s chamber, but she was no longer there. Grimmjow had abducted her, and after asking Loly and Menoly, he learned this. Grimmjow had brought her to Ichigo in order to heal him after their fight, for whatever reason.

Quote- “You’re just in time. Watch closely. This is the moment that the man you’ve put your hope in will lose his life. ”

17. Griffith (Berserk)

Over and over, Berserk has evaluated when humanity stops being human. There are several facets to the characters in Berserk. They are well-composed and complex, going well beyond the simple binary of good and evil. Griffith is one example of such a persona. He is one of the most well-developed villains in fiction.

His reputation as a person has been debated for a long time. He has engaged in a number of morally questionable and even malicious acts. It’s hard to tell whether he’s actually wicked or not because of the repeated assertions that his actions were motivated by good intentions.

Griffith has always been a very deceptive and ambitious person. He was driven by a relentless focus on a distant objective. Only the Band of Hawk, and especially Casca and Guts, had his confidence and affection. People are naturally drawn to him. Likewise, he has a hard time dealing with his emotions in public.

At first glance, it’s clear that Griffith isn’t wicked; he may be immoral at times, but he’s never evil. His wicked instincts were likely sparked by his incarceration and torture. And because the eclipse approaches, his personality is taking on new dimensions. Griffith’s noble intentions are what prevent his followers from labeling him wicked.

Though he has taken countless lives, he has also prevented far more from being lost. His good intentions are of little consequence at this time. His reputation will always be tarnished because of it. He repeatedly puts the needs of others below his own in order to further his own goals.

While his past acts may have had some justification, his treatment of Casca stemmed solely from his animosity toward Guts. There are several possible justifications for justifying his actions as morally ambiguous. However, this is just the beginning. Griffith is a really bad guy.

18. L (Death Note)

Like his formidable foe, L is a tall, wan young man. In contrast to Light’s perfectly coiffed blonde hair, his black hair is unkempt and hangs from his neck. His eyes are a dark shade, too. One of the first things people notice about him is the black bags under his eyes, a consequence of his chronic lack of sleep.

L always appears in a pair of blue trousers and a white, long-sleeved shirt. Since he would rather go shoeless, even out in public, that’s usually the case.

L always seemed shorter than he really was because of his stooped stance. Here, we get down to brass tacks, as L’s personality will include not just his demeanor but also fan speculation about his motivations and thought processes.

L is both a mirror and an opposing form of Light Yagami; he is the immovable object to Yagami’s unstoppable force. The conclusion of Death Note seems inevitable when seen from this angle.

For the sake of those who have not yet read the manga, I shall remain intentionally vague. L was designed with a character trait intentionally at odds with Light’s.

In addition to going well with his established persona, his outward look is notable because it may be seen as a representation of the objectivity that L is often believed to exemplify. L’s early life and family background are mostly unknown. As a result of their research into this and similar details, fans have concluded that L is among the most intriguing people they’ve ever come across.

However, Watari found him when he was eight years old and sent him to an orphanage home for brilliant children named Wammy’s House, at least according to the manga and anime. Watari, impressed by L’s brilliance, decided to lend a hand with his studies.

19. Akaza (Demon Slayer)

In addition to being a major antagonist in Demon Slayer, Akaza has been one of the best-written characters because of his extensive history and motivations. He is the monster from Upper Moon 3 who killed Kyojuro Rengoku. Anime enthusiasts who only watch the medium hated this devil because of what he had done.

People who have read the manga, however, are aware of his sad history since he is widely regarded as one of the finest villains. Akaza is the only demon of the Upper Moon who doesn’t carry a weapon. Because he has such a large quantity of Muzan’s blood, Akaza’s body is remarkably resilient for a demon of his status as an upper rank.

He may quickly outrun and overwhelm the Demon Slayer Cops’ most strong and trained fighters. In the manga and anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Akaza plays a pivotal role as the main antagonist. In the Demon Slayer series, Akaza serves underneath the main antagonist, Muzan Kibutsuji, as one of the Twelve Kizuki, a group amongst twelve of the fiercest demons.

He’s a demon of high status, ranking in the top three. Kokushibo advises Akaza not to break barriers and disgrace the system of power by severing his hand before he has a chance to process what has transpired. During Upper-Rank One’s lecture on discipline and proper behavior, Akaza experiences a paralyzing terror that causes him to stay still.

Even though Akaza is less powerful in level than the demons we’ve seen battling in the anime series so far, he easily dispatched Rengoku in the Mugen. Kokushibo’s twin brother, Yoriichi, became the greatest demon slayer to ever live, as well as the creator of the breathing methods while they were both still humans.

As a human, he was a demon killer, but Kokushibo’s jealousy would eventually destroy him. He started to feel jealous of his brother, Yoriichi, and his incredible abilities. He evolved into a demon and spent ages as a monster, gaining expertise as he hacked away at a greater number of victims until he was almost as powerful as his brother Muzan. However, his feelings for his sibling remained unchanged.

20. Bondrewd (Made in Abyss)

A legendary White Whistle named Bondrewd experimented on real people, many of whom were abandoned children like Nanachi and Mitty. In a flashback that explains the background of everyone’s beloved Hollow, we see the horrific transformation of Nanachi and Mitty. As soon as they descended to the pit and then emerged, the curse that accompanied the Abyss began to take effect.

As Nanachi becomes fluffier, Mitty deteriorates into a writhing ball of flesh and anguish. Because of the powerful impacts of the abyss’ curse, Bondrewd, who resides in the abyss’s lowest region on the fifth layer, is elusive to inexperienced divers. Bondrewd is dangerous even if one were to manage to dodge the lurking monster in order to locate him deep beneath the Ido Front Fortress.

Those untrained for battle might meet a quick end if a weapon like Reg’s flamethrower and other relics are used against them. Bondrewd is shown to be an accomplished manipulator. His victims feel comfortable in his presence, fooled by his soothing bedside manner until it is too late for them to flee his life-altering experiments.

Bondrewd doesn’t care if he needs to do experiments on real individuals, and some of them die or are children. All of the experiments presented to the audience include children as subjects; however, it is unclear if he just recruits orphans.

This concern is compounded by the fact that his immoral experiments have resulted in more than just the horrific deformity of people, as witnessed through the crevices of Mitty and Nanachi.

Bondrewd is also seen to keep on mutilating his victims if doing so would allow him to obtain any more understanding of the abyss’s curse. In Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, Nanachi hints that Bondrewd has them utilize their adorable look to lure other people, possibly young children, into his lab for experimentation and eventual death.
