Did our presidential candidates establish credibility, appeal to the nation's emotions, and present logical arguments? Whatever your answer, this post sheds a little philosophical light on the importance of evaluating policy plans beyond debate performances. https://lnkd.in/gQMmq3pW#presidentialdebate #presidentbiden #formerpresidenttrump #debate #2024 #ethos #pathos #logos #policyproposals

The presidential debate wasn’t so much about Donald Trump vs Joe Biden, it was about Democrat misinformation - lies. They told us Biden was a vigorous 80-year-old. Clearly the reality is he is an addled old man who gets led around by Jill Biden. (there is a shocking video of Jill leading him off stage. Joe is unsteady on his feet). The Democrats knew, but they are the party of anything goes. False documents, baseless accusations, impeding prosecutions, and weaponisation of the justice department (Lawfare). Consider this, had the democrats pumped him full of enough go juice enough for their ruse succeeded - we would continue to have a leader with diminished capacity. Don’t fool yourself, our enemies noted Joe’s performance. A weak president is an invitation for them to make that bold move. The next few weeks are going to be scary. With hapless Kamala in the wings, we are in a precarious position. What almost everyone has overlooked in all this is that Joe Biden has been a horrible president by all measures.

Knowledge and wisdom are power. Both lack these qualities. World perception is we are weak. That ain’t good.

The presidential debate was nothing more than a chain of personal attacks from one candidate to another. When there is no Ethos, there is tyranny, when there is no pathos, there is no legitimacy and when there is no logos, frivolity prevails. As Hannah Arendt said: "Revolutionaries are not those who make revolutions, but those who know that power is in the street and can raise it."

Hi Sophy. I agree with your perspective that we need to look beyond the candidates to the policies their administrations bring. To that end I'm a single issue voter this November. All I have to do is look at my daughter and ask myself If I want her to have more rights through the next 20+ years, or fewer. The person winning next presidential term will potentially get to pick 2 or 3 SCOTUS Justices that will shape the legal landscape for a couple generations. I'm voting solely on that fact this time.

Friends who know me are aware that I am an avid reader and prolific writer, having penned thousands of essays, articles, white papers, and more. My early mornings are often spent reading and writing, seeking to better understand myself, my relationships, and the complex world around us.Recently, I’ve been reading "The Political Theory of the American Founding" from Hillsdale College. It's a concise work that explores the natural rights theory, touching on concepts like equality, the laws of nature, the social compact, consent, and foreign and domestic policy. A perfect morning read for an auspicious day. Hillsdale College also offers a variety of wonderful online lectures, which I highly recommend for anyone interested in their courses. These lectures are a joy to experience.Although today’s government and economic approach diverge from the founders' views on money, with most economists agreeing that our current system surpasses the gold standard, this reader is invaluable. It revisits the founders' perspectives on private property and free markets, making it a crucial resource for business leaders.#economics #americanfounding #politicaltheory #naturalrights #publicpolicy #morality #ethics #freedom

Ode to Apple Pie on Independence Day 🥧 In the heart of July, when freedom rings loud, Amidst star-spangled banners and a gathering crowd, There's a slice of tradition that always feels right, An emblem of sweetness in each luscious bite. From orchards so green, where the apple trees grow, To kitchens where grandmothers' secrets bestow, Crisp crusts that crackle and fillings that gleam, It's the taste of America, a patriotic dream.Baked with liberty, cinnamon, and flair, Each pie is a symbol, a joy we all share. As fireworks burst in the twilight sky, We savor our history, with each apple pie.So, on this great day, let’s lift our forks high, Toast to our freedom, with apple pie by. For in every crumble, and each tasty part, Lies the spirit of a nation, baked straight from the heart. ❤️ 🇺🇸 🧨 #independenceday #4thofjuly #american #applepie

Flashback to taking my kids and our dog to Carnac. If you’ve never been, Carnac is a small town in the southern coast of Brittany, France (near the gulf of Morbihan), renowned for its remarkable prehistoric sites. With over 3,000 standing stones (menhirs), dating back to the Neolithic period, around 4,500 to 2,000 BCE, they are older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. The purpose of these stone alignments is still a mystery, but mysteries are utterly captivating, especially for kids (and curious parents). My kids were 9 & 12 in this photo, and our yorkie, Little Miss (feisty) Fia, was a year old. We were living in Paris while our company built environmental vaults for the Louvre and the Orsay. We extended our adventure when we were contracted to restore the archives for the Arts et Metiers, whose collection of treasures is truly awe-inspiring. They safefuard the original mold for the Statue of Liberty. 🗽 It’s impossible not to be inspired when you’re surrounded by magic and mystery, history and culture, and what feels like endless recess. My kids were so inspired by the culturally edifying experience that they wrote and published their own storybooks about magical journeys, magicians, and runamuck ninjas 🥷 If I learned anything during our international travels, it’s the importance of using our imagination and getting outside to explore our amazing world 🗺️ (this applies wherever we are living or working). The best part of traveling is coming home 🏡 #carnac #france #adventures #familytime #gooutside #roseville 🌹

Becoming the first woman in 121 years to sit on the Board of Directors for Nitta Corporation in Japan was a profound honor for me. This opportunity was more than a personal achievement; it was a step forward for gender representation in corporate leadership. Representation matters because it challenges old norms and opens doors for future generations. Yet, it's equally vital to embrace the host culture with genuine respect. Learning about Japanese customs, language, and business practices was an enriching experience that strengthened my professional relationships in this fascinating region of the world. A special shoutout to Debbi Fields for paving the way with her international business savvy and impeccable taste. Her success in Japan is a shinning example of how to navigate and thrive in different cultural landscapes. During my time with Nitta, I helped spearhead the successful launch of their nano-division, worked to strengthen their medical device initiatives in the United States, and introduced them to new clients in Latin America. Honoring those who came before us sets a positive example for those who will follow. My role with Nitta was tiny and insignificant on its own, but combined with the accomplishments of other women in our global corporate community, paints a more vibrant picture. Here are a few pics from my time in Japan, and a link to my newsletter "Cross Cultural Conversations" which presents a closer look at Mexico and Japan's geopolitical friendship. https://lnkd.in/gJTgNiMa#womenleaders #representation #womenwhoserveonboards
