Grill Master Party - Grilling Recipes - Big Bear's Wife (2024)

You know how you plan out something and you’re all like “Yeah, I’m gonna do this and it’s gonna be awesome and everyone is gonna love it” and then time passes and while you may end up doing whatever it is that you said you were going to do, it just doesn’t occur like you planned?”

— Yeah… that’s my entire life. ALL THE TIME haha.

Back at the beginning of the year Big Bear and I decided that we would host a “Sunday Supper” once a month. We’d invite friends and family over and re-make recipes from the blog (you know the ones that were posted that month) and we’d all have a great time. Amazing Ideas I tell ya. So far we’ve had two of these haha. I’m slacking and it’s all because life is getting in the way. 😉

But even though we’re technically in July, we did have a “Big Bear Sunday Supper” in June and even though life got in the way and preventing me from posting it on the blog at the end of June I still wanted to share it with you!

We had a “Grill Master Party” that served as our “Big Bear Sunday Supper” and a little something special for my dad as a little “Father’s Day” theme. 🙂

So, this is how these “Big Bear Sunday Suppers” are going to work on the blog, every month we’re going to have at least 1 Sunday Supper at the house and we’re going to serve recipes that I posted on the blog for that month (or the month before depending on when we have the dinner).

That way we can share our love of food and cooking with our family and friends, I don’t really have to plan a menu because it’s already on the blog and I get to decorate! For June’s “Big Bear Sunday Supper” I got a special box of amazing decorations fromParty Pail!I worked withParty Paillast year for Big Bear’s 30th “Vintage Dude” Birthday and I was super excited to search through their site for BBQ Cookout decorations!

Ok, so I love to decorate for parties but here’s how I feel about decorating:

  • I want it to be affordable!
  • I want everything to match (haha)!
  • I want it to be easy to set up and take down!
  • I want details!

I’ve said it before 1,000 times and I’ll say it 1,000 times again, I love little details when it comes to parties and my main focus is always on the food table! I’m going to assume that’s because the food part of the party is always my main focus! haha.

When I decorate for our parties or cookouts (and no I don’t go crazy decorating for all of our cookouts) I normally pick a color scheme that goes with my theme and then I work on sticking little details in.

Since most of the recipes for June on BigBearsWife.com were grilling themed I thought that a “Grill Master Party” would be the perfect!

So let me tell you a little bit about the decorations and then I’ll show you what we served and where you can get the recipes!

Like I said before, I searchedParty Pailfor our decorations and decided on the“BBQ/Grill” themed decorationsunder their “everyday entertaining”section.

The BBQ Master Party Themewas perfect!

In this section, on the site, they have theBBQ Master Party Theme/Grill Masterthemed items, they have color combinations shown that work with the theme and they also have favors and customized items that match!

Since the main colors in the theme were “Brick and Black”, I picked up some Black Dinner Plates and Brick Square Paper Platesfor our food as well as some cute (I mean manly haha)BBQ/GRILL Master Dessert Platesand napkins!

I went with aBrick Paper Tablecoverand hung a few Black Plastic Flag Banners in front of the food table! On theParty Pailsite you can also search decorationsby colorso I hopped over there and took a look at all of the black and brick colored decorations just to see if there was anything else that I wanted for our table!

I also grabbed a few sets ofBlack Plastic Cutleryas well as someBlack Dinner Napkinsfor our guest to use during dinner!

For the table’s drink station, I set out some fun Grill Master Cups, a few BBQ Beverage Napkins and these awesome littleChalkboard Labels!

Look at how cute theChalkboard Labelsare!

I set them out by the drink station with some chalk (and a chalk marker but I recommend just using the regular chalk) and that way people could label their drinking cups before getting their drinks for the evening!

Speaking of “Chalkboard” items, let me show you these neat Chalkboard signs that I picked out for our cookout!

These are Chalkboard Centerpiece Decorations , they come in a set of three with chalk and you can find these under theChalkboard Theme Party Decorations! You could obviously write whatever you wanted on them but since we were also using our “Sunday Supper” to celebrate father’s day, I decided to use them for that!

I just wrote on them and then stuck them into the cups that I was using to hold the plasticware for the table!

We loved theGrill Master Party themed decorations; they went perfectly with our grilling theme!

Oh and for the grilling and for the menu, let’s talk food!!

For this “Big Bear Sunday Supper” ,we served recipes that I posted about on the blog during the month of June!

We hadCheese Stuffed Cheese Burgersfor our “main course”! haha hey! We’re grilling out! Cheeseburgers are fantastic for grilling out!

For these burgers, we mixground beef that’s85% lean 15% fat with a little bit ofPike’s Peak Butcher’s Rub, stuffed the middles with a cube of cheese andthen grilled themto perfection!

For the original recipe and blog post we made “Cheese Stuffed Bacon Burgers” but decided to go with traditional toppings of lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mustard for the cookout; both ways are fantastic!

To go with our burgers we decided to grilled up our favoriteGrilled Corn with Herb Butter!

We always grill them in the husks after spreading herb butter over the kernels and then serve them piled high next to some of the remaining herb butter, in case anyone need a little extra! 😉

I also made a huge bowl ofGreek Yogurt Ranch Pasta Saladto be one of our side dishes as well!!

COOKOUT TIP:If you’re going to make any type of yogurt or mayo based pasta salads for a cookout, make sure that it stays in the fridge until the last minute. Bring it out, let everyone get their servings and then pop it back into the fridge. We had a small crowd so it wasn’t out very long but if you’re serving a large crowd you may want to sit the pasta bowl down into a bowl of ice and ice water to keep it cold while everyone is getting their food! Letting pasta salad that’s been made with mayo or yogurt can be very bad news!

So please be smart with your cookout food! 🙂

Now what about dessert?

In the summer, I’m not really looking for anything that’s super heavy or messy for dessert! Fruit is pretty high on my list for summer desserts and if you’re already cooking out and have the grill going, grill your dessert!

Our grilled dessert for the ?Grilled Fruit Kabobs!

I also set out a huge bowl of cubed watermelon along side of these little Black Velvet Chevron Paper Treat Cups so that guests could have option of which fruit they wanted!

So, there you have it. Our first “Big Bear’s Sunday Supper” with a Grill Master Party theme along with the June recipes from BigBearsWife.com!
